Geosur 2010 INTERNATIONAL GEOLOGICAL CONGRESS
ON THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE
MAR DEL PLATA - 22 - 23 NOVEMBER 2010
FINAL INSTRUCTIONS
Oral Presentations
The Organizing Committee has tried to bring an equilibrate distribution of oral presentations fullfilling the will of contributors. Talks have been organized in different thematic sessions (Sessions 2 to 8) plus the special session S1 “Rodinia in South America”. Talks have been therefore distributed in two parallel rooms. Oral sessions will be carried out from early in the morning until mid-afternoon with the aim of leaving enough time for poster discussions (see Poster Presentations).
All talks have been set for 20 minutes. Please take into consideration that this time includes questions, so prepare your talk in a way to allow some time for discussions. Conveners will be strongly recommended to keep the schedule in time, so do not extend your talk beyond the allocated time.
Oral presentation materials (preferably in Power-Point) should be loaded with enough anticipation. We recommend to upload your presentation the day before your talk. In the registration area you will find a desk with a PC where you will be able to check your presentation and a technician in charge of uploading the files. Once you have checked it, you should hand your presentation to this member of the organization for uploading. This desk will open on Sunday 21st at 5.30 p.m. So, especially if you have a talk Monday morning, try to do it on Sunday evening. If you have special computational needs or non-standard material or very heavy files to upload please contact us before hand to avoid delays to other contributors and problems during presentation.
Poster Presentations
A large area for poster exhibition and discussion has been set in the same floor (12th) besides the oral presentation rooms. Posters will be allowed to be exhibited the whole meeting. Please display your poster early Monday morning, so it can receive the widest possible attention from participants. Take into consideration that coffee breaks will take place in the poster area. In order to give further visibility to the posters we have allocated an special session for poster exhibition and discussion on Monday evening (17.00 to 19.00 hs) with beer. Please, be sure to be at your poster during that time.
Each poster will have a vertical panel (1.20 m wide, 2.50 m high) for its display. The location of each poster will be indicated at each panel. We recommend maximum poster sizes of 0.9m wide by 1.5 m high. We´ll provide adhesive tape for posters, but try to bring your own to speed-up the hanging process. Posters should be removed by Tuesday evening (7.30 pm).
An special committee will be designed to assign awards to the best poster presentations. Awards will be given during the closing ceremony on Tuesday evening.
